So Why Attend This Workshop?

This is an immersive and interactive workshop for relationship enhancement.

This is not group therapy but an educational program.
 
This workshop is based on the research-based model of couple therapy: emotionally focused therapy (EFT).​   
​

     The workshop is facilitated by a trained EFT couples Muslim therapist. 

     The ultimate goal of EFT is to not only help you and your partner reduce     conflict but also shape your relationship into a more loving secure bond.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn to describe, identify and control the negative interactions in your relationship that cause hurt

  • Understand your and your partner’s emotional responses and needs 

  • Learn how to communicate effectively and feel deeply heard
  • Learn how to create and nurture emotional intimacy to keep your love strong and flourishing

About your workshop leader: 

Amna Khan, MA, LPC, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor in the states of NJ and NY. Her private practice is located in Montclair, NJ. She works with individuals (17 years and older) and couples. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Amna's experience includes working at a community outpatient, adolescent partial hospitalization, long-term substance abuse treatment, psychiatric emergency room, and the child crisis team for Boston Emergency Services. She is also a certified confidence coach, Educator for  the Gottman "Bringing Baby Home: New Parent Workshop," and a Gottman trained leader for  "The Seven Principles for a Successful Marriage." 

IMPORTANT:
This  workshop will not be appropriate if
  1. There is an explicit and obvious lack of commitment to the growth of the relationship by one partner​
  2. Any physical or verbal and emotional abuse to the point where one person fears the other
  3. There is evidence of history of significant mental health concerns in either partner that would make productive engagement in the group difficult: paranoid schizophrenia or suicidal depression. ​
