Hi, I'm Amna Khan

Picture

I received my MA in mental health counseling in 2011 from  Montclair State University, NJ. I am a licensed counselor/therapist who works with clients in NJ. I have experience  working in multiple settings: community outpatient center, adolescent partial hospitalization unit, substance abuse residential program, the psychiatric emergency room in an urban hospital, the child & adolescent crisis team with emergency services, and finally, private practice. I am licensed in the state of NJ (37PC00605200).

I am fortunate to have worked over the years with individuals across the age spectrum and from different cultural backgrounds. I know how important our cultural identities are and how they have, and continue to, shape our lives. That is why I honor, respect and value my clients' various identities and will work with you within your cultural framework, however you may define it.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and The Gottman Method. I also have received training in the ACT therapy framework, REBT, and brainspotting. I offer a framework that combines parts work, somatic techniques, traditional talk therapy, ACT therapy, attachment lens, self-compassion work, and mindfulness. My framework acknowledges and embraces your cultural background with all its facets and your identity and the nuances they bring into your life and your internal world.

The bottom line is when you come in for counseling, you want to be heard and helped.  I am here to do both in a compassionate, respectful, and non-judgmental environment.  If you are ready to do the work together, email me. I look forward to working with you.
